Analysis of the Sustainability Report

Miske Ahmed WRIT 2004 Writing in Digital Cultures Rich Shivener Mash-up analysis Wednesday March 11, 2020 Analysis of the Sustainability Report  The sustainability report its structured in a highly detailed manner. This report is meant to be read very closely and not to be overseen. The report uses the cannons of classical rhetoric. However, this report does not demonstrate delivery or memory. For apparent reason, this report is not an oratory speech. On the other hand, this report illustrates the other three canons of classical rhetoric because its in a written format. The report uses the techniques of invention, arrangement, and style to make the report more appropriate to the genre that will be presented to the readers.  When it comes to the five canons of classical rhetoric. The most effective cannon in this report is arrangement. There must be a high level of arrangement when it comes to the sustainability report, so the audience may follow the report...

Digital Remix versus Mashups

Miske Ahmed WRIT 2004 Writing in Digital Cultures Rich Shivener Mash-up analysis Feb 3, 2020 Digital Remix versus Mashups “The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera” ~ Dorothea Lang. Upon, seeing this quote the first thing that came to mind was “digital remix”. Digital remixing has a lot to do with technology. The reason that this quote resonates with "digital remix" is because with the use of technology other ideas start to emerge. When it comes to remixing and mashups one must understand two things. The understanding of genres and the audience response are two factors that every digital remix and mashup should incorporate. Kerry Dirk says, “knowing what a genre is used for can help people to accomplish goals” (Dirk,253).  To, successfully meet the requirement of a good digital remix or a mashup one must fully understand what the original genre is used for so they may accomplish their goals in the remixing version. Another...

Political Mashups

Image
“The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera” ~ Dorothea Lang. Upon, seeing this quote the first thing that came to mind was mash-up. When the original version of anything is first introduced, we only tend to see it from one viewpoint. However, a mash-up illustrates a different idea and viewpoints that have never been introduced in the original version. For instance, you would see a mash-up that contains two polar opposite genres being brought together. It also has different response compared to the original version. One might anticipate a certain response in the original version because of the reputation that the genre holds. Conversely, in order to understand the mash-up, one must have a good understanding of the original version to understand the mash-up response. If this is not understood the mashup would not successfully meet its fulfillment.  The first mash-up I will be analyzing is the mash-up on Trump’s al-Baghdadi speech and Obama’s Bi...

Income Equality Between Genders

Image
Hello, My name is Muneeb and in this blog we will focus on the unfair wage gap between males and females and how men are considered more superior than woman in the workplace.       Gender inequality in this world has been taking place for a very long time and in many different places. Gender inequality is when people treat others unfairly simply due to their gender. One of the most common places gender inequality is found is in the workplace where men usually hold higher positions than woman and this position of power typically leads to them promoting and hiring other men resulting in the discrimination against woman.        Moving on to my actual purpose of this blog which is the inequality of income between men and woman....... The reason this gender inequality exists in the workplace and in the income is because of a typical stereotype about men which is that men excel in everything they do and woman don't which is completely false. Statistic...

Image
Hey class, sorry for posting very late, but my house had a flooding issue and I apologize. Anyways, lets get started.      In the past, people have been dealing with homophobia and it has been a political problem for many years. Students getting bullied at school for being homosexual, governments punishing citizen for being homosexual, a death penalty for being homosexual etc. There were a large amounts of homophobia and homosexuals weren't seen as normal people in the past.      Now-a-days, people have learned to accept homosexuals as normal people in our society. Homophobia has always been a problem for gays and lesbians because it meant that people were afraid of them. Although as time went by, people started to learn that it is okay to be a homosexual. This a graph showing people's thoughts on homophobia through the years Looking at the graph, you could see that people's thoughts on homosexuals changed and more people are ...

Gender Stereotypes in Children

Hello fellow bloggers, We are all aware of gender stereotypes between men and women but are we aware how early these stereotypes are pushed upon children. The following experiment conducted by BBC shows how at some level adults push these stereotypes on children even if subconsciously. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWu44AqF0iI They dress toddlers in clothes typically worn by the opposite sex and ask adult volunteers to play with them. All of the adults chose toys to give to the toddlers purely based on the clothes they were wearing, the children dressed as boys were mainly given a toy robot by the adults and the girls were given a doll or teddy bear. As a species we subconsciously fear being different to some extent. This is evidently seen in how we treat our children. we give little girls dolls and unicorns while the boys get trucks and robots. We shape the minds of kids who in turn will shape the minds of the future generations. This has been the unending cycle of human e...

Women in the Media

Image
Hello Class, Can everyone please watch this video before continuing on with the rest of the blog.  https://www.youtube. com/watch?v=NswJ4kO9uHc&t=2s The media is nearly inescapable, we use it on a daily basis. The use of social media has an impact on our lives leading us to believe how females should be "represented" in the media. The media plays a role of shaping society into believing in gender roles. There has been an ongoing issue based on the representation of women in the media, why you may wonder? It has been proven that women in the media are constantly portrayed to be less powerful in comparison to men. Women are often sexualized and are always expected to be what society claim to be "perfect". There are many examples of this in the video. There were many big accomplishments, and good things that woman had gotten done in 2013. But the media still mainly concentrated on sexualizing women. Whether  it was for an Ad, or a game, women...
