Is Homophobia Disappearing?
Hey class, sorry for posting very late, but my house had a flooding issue and I apologize. Anyways, lets get started.
In the past, people have been dealing with homophobia and it has been a political problem for many years. Students getting bullied at school for being homosexual, governments punishing citizen for being homosexual, a death penalty for being homosexual etc. There were a large amounts of homophobia and homosexuals weren't seen as normal people in the past.
Now-a-days, people have learned to accept homosexuals as normal people in our society. Homophobia has always been a problem for gays and lesbians because it meant that people were afraid of them. Although as time went by, people started to learn that it is okay to be a homosexual.
This a graph showing people's thoughts on homophobia through the years
Looking at the graph, you could see that people's thoughts on homosexuals changed and more people are starting to accept homosexuals in our society throughout the years.
Here is a video from the United Nation's YouTube channel and their " new anti-homophobia message"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7AudirF32M
Here are some questions I have for you:
- Is homophobia still a problem in Canada?
- Do you think homophobia is disappearing?
- Do you accept homosexuals as normal people in our society?
- Has society truly change and accept homosexuals as normal people in our society?
Nice Blog Ilyas! Firstly I would like to apologize for your house flooding, I hope everyone is ok. Moving on to some of the questions you had "Is Homophobia still an issue" I don't really think that homophobia is an issue in Canada since everyone here is really kind and accepting of change and even if some people have an issue with homosexual individuals they keep those feelings to themselves rather than expressing them publicly. I think that society has definitely changed and people now much more accepting of homosexuals because like I mentioned before, everyone has their own beliefs and ways of living life and even if I don't agree with their actions I should keep those thoughts to myself.
