Where we should draw a line
Same-sex marriages have been recorded from the 1st century BCE, this was the start of homosexual marriages. This was not accepted back then and still not accepted until this day, but many things back then are not accepted today. Back in the old days, they would test ones innocents in many ways trials, not normal trials they are referred to as trial by ordeal. They would have a trial by fire, where if you live you're innocent and if you die you lied and are guilty and also punished. This is one place where we have changed, we use words and evidence to find out if someone is innocent. Then why can't we advance and change in other places too?
Around the world, homosexuality is frowned upon. This can be seen all around us, from words or action that disclude or discriminate against homosexuals. The world has not fully accepted homosexuals, but what actions they take do not justify hatred for them. There are many parts of the world that have accepted homosexuals, but there are countries where homosexuals can be punished with death. there are 72 countries where same-sex relations are illegal, but 8 countries where same-sex relations can be punished with death.

Questions
- Do you think this punishment is acceptable for the time and age we live in?
- What other punishment could be used instead of death?
- Do you think same-sex relationships should be hated? why or why not?
- What do you think sparks this hatred for homosexuals?
- Could humankind survive even with same-sex relations?

Hi Ahsan nice article. I think that punishment for homosexuality is not acceptable in the time we live in. I come from a very libertarian outlook, where I believe that everyone has the right to do what ever they please, unless they are not harming others. So if this is true, homosexuality is ones personal choice and should not be controlled by the government and therefore should not be punished.
ReplyDeleteThe only places punishment for Homosexuality is acceptable, is in very religious countries. But society has moved on from the medieval days when religion controlled the state. The government should not care if you committed a sin. That's why the better question to ask is not if homosexuality should be punished, but to ask if we can accept some religious ideals in a free and democratic government? Should religion and government be allowed to mix?
I feel that religion and the government shouldn't be mixed becuase of you have a government that follows religion more than the voice of the people than every decision your government makes wouldn't really be for the betterment of the government but to follow the religion.
DeleteI think that religion and the government should be mixed, this is how Canada is functioning. Religion is a core piece of all humans that live on this planet, this is the seed of our law and our morals. Governments take action that are not always liked by the citizens of the country, but understanding the morals and what they believe in can stop many of these conflicts. This does not mean because of religion you can kill who you like, like everything in live moderation is key.
DeleteAhsan, Canada is not a theocracy (Government run by religion), and therefore government and religion do not mix. If Canada did function this way, homosexuality would not be legal in Canada, as in Christianity Homosexuality is a sin. Canada is not a very religious country, and allows a lot of diversity. This allows Canada to function in a very open, progressive, and secular way.
DeleteI was not saying it is a theocracy, all i wanted to get across is that Canada is function with religion in mind. Canada is not focused on religion, but we keep it in mind with all our action. Canada does not put religion above human lives(in most cases).
DeleteTrue, sorry for the misunderstanding.
DeleteHey Asfand, In my opinion, religion and the government should be mixed to a certain extent, and depending on which country it is. For example, in Saudi Arabia, it is mostly Muslims, very little non Muslims live there. So in that case, the government should be mixed with religion, because at this point it would satisfy almost the whole country. If the government makes rules that are based off of the Muslim religion, everyone will be able to relate and follow the rules. Since after all, it is their religion. But in places like Canada and America, where there are lots of different religions, then government and religion shouldn't be mixed because it would cause a lot of fighting and disagreements.
DeleteI feel that there is no punishment acceptable for people being themselves during any time or age. Really there should be no punishment whatsoever and if a punishment is needed becuase the people want it than fine them at the most. I feel that same sex relationships should not be hated becuase it's not your responsibility/right to choose who can have relationship with someone and who can't. I think what sparks hatred for homosexuality is that it is different and people can't handle change/something they aren't use to so they make it seem evil. Truthfully human kind can survive with homexuslity becuase there are only a small amount of homosexuals in the world and if everyone was homosexual then we would be in trouble.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your opinion, but the world is not in trouble if same-sex couples are in large quantity. The world around us is advancing in multiple areas around us, these changes have made it possible for a same-sex couple to have children.
DeleteIf there's more same sex couples then how will they reproduce it's physically not possible so I'm saying that more homosexuals the less the population will grow.
Deletefertility clinics...
DeleteI agree with Nabil. I do believe that if same-sex marriages increases, then the population might decrease. Now you said that fertility clinics are available for homosexual people, that is correct but they are very expensive and not everyone can afford it. There are also other methods and ways like having a surrogate, but even that is very expensive. I have seen gay couple on TV and game shows like "Minute ti win it", and they said that they needed hundreds of thousands of dollars to produce a baby. Not all gay couples would be able to afford that, so how do you think the population will increase then.
DeleteWhen there is a need they will make it a government issue, having humankind being erased out weighs money.........I don't think anyone can make money or function a society with minimal humans, to add to that if u have minimal humans and as u say you need lots of money for the produce baby we would only have the high class survive. A building with no base will crumble and fall, this would be the same with the society only the top survives and without a base they fall.
DeleteOkay so you are saying that the government will provide the poor homosexual couples with money? How can you expect the government to provide them with money when they are not willing to give the other poor people money. Millions of people are dying because they have no food but nobody is doing enough to keep them alive, so how do you expect the government to provide for the poor homo couples. If that happens then the government would have to look out for homeless and Homo people.I don't think the government is gonna care much about them. Do you actually think a guy like Trump would care about these homo people.
DeleteI said "When there is a need they will make" meaning if they need more people and think the saving the world is more important and making some money then they will, for the second part you were referring to the future. Also new things cost a lot after sometime they will lower the price like a new phone or car.........
DeleteInteresting article Ahsan! No, I strongly believe that there is NO punishment acceptable for homosexuals. It is very sad that there are countries that will imprison or kill someone for being in a same-sex relationship. Why are people being punished for being true to themselves? Countries that are doing these punishments need to realize that people are free to love who they want to love and it is not fair that they are trying to make homosexuality a crime.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Aisha because truly there is no crime in homosexuality. you should be able to love who you love and nothing you do in your private life should be illegal as long as no one is getting harmed.
DeleteFirstly, let's answer your very first question, then why can't we advance and change in other places too. In order to answer the question, you would have to take into consideration the difference between your example of the trials and homosexuality. The reason it was very easy to move from the painful unacceptable trials of the past was that they were methods created by humans. On the other hand, homosexuality was banned by most religions which is why it is still not allowed in most places of the world. It is much harder for people to change their religious perspectives than it is to change their political or social perspective. For your second question, we live in a time and age where governments are run by democracy instead of theocracy the death punishment is therefore not acceptable. Democracy means the government is for the people and of the people since homosexuals are people there shouldn't be a punishment, to begin with. I think the reason why homosexuals are hated is that society is still being connected with theocracy and view homosexuality from a religious point of view. For your final question will mankind survive the transition into homosexuality? Well, as long as the majority of the people are straight I think we would survive. However, if the homosexuals outnumber the straight we would definitely see the end of mankind.
ReplyDeletemankind will survive even with out having a large quantity of straight, we still have science to find a new way to create children.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all punishing someone because they love a person is just pure wrong. Punishing homosexuals at this time and age we live in is even more wrong because we have moved on and this should not still be continuing. I believe homosexual hatred started with people having the ideology that only men could only love women and vice versa. I believe that some countries that punish homosexuals to death come from a religion perspective and not a government perspective. I believe that same sex relationship should not be hated because everyone deserves to happy with whomever they desire to be with ,Since when did we have the rights to tell people who they could love and who they cant.

Hi Ahsan,
ReplyDeletei believe that those acts should not be accepted in the time we live in but in the other countries they force you to live by there rules. In some of those countries that will punish you to death if caught trying to marry the same sex, people their have bigger problems because the country is a 3rd world country. what i am trying to start is that some of the people know that you cannot do that but a lot of people are worrying about what they can eat for the day. i also wanted to say that if you do want to get married to the same sex that you would just have to run away if you guys would do anything for each other. I do not think same sex marriage should be hated because the people trying to get married are just humans like us and should not have to hide their love. i believe they should be happy just how you would be happy with your soul mate.
Hey Ahsan,
ReplyDeleteI think that punishing someone for being homosexual is wrong and unacceptable. In some religions it is a sin, but they don't require a death penalty. I think that same-sex marriages shouldn't be hated, what did they do to be hated. I think this because being homosexual isn't a crime in anyway possible, they just think that it is wrong and shouldn't happen.
